Annalena Baerbock Visits Us

Where do you find hope? What inspires you? These are the questions we asked ourselves during the visit of Annalena Baerbock, federal chair of the Green Party. She left us this beautiful quote on her visit last Saturday.
Our motivation comes from hopeful encounters with people who want to make this world fair and liveable for all of us. It is the vision of people seeking help and people helping, working hand in hand and doing pioneering work, meeting people at eye level and immersing ourselves in their reality, to understand at least a little of what moves them.
For a few days Annalena Baerbock visited various aid projects in northern Iraq, among them our Our Bridge education centre in Khanke. The Consul General in Erbil, Barbara Wolf, made this visit possible. Many thanks for that.
Our helpers on site gave her a tour of the individual classrooms and subjects. She spoke with our teachers there and was impressed by our work. She also met our children at the Our Bridge education centre and, as a mother, quickly found a connection with them and held a conversation with them in English class.
During her short stay she did not miss the chance to enjoy the sunset on a bicycle on the roof of our building, together with the children, Paruar and Barbara Wolf. Moments like these give us at Our Bridge strength. They are the motivation that reinforces our belief that we are doing the one right thing.
Thank you very much for your visit!
